Either way thought I’d share my experience. Maybe I got lucky or maybe I don’t know? Did deleting it cause something to happen, was it just waiting in the wings to give me shit? From the article it says the service interval is 65,xxx but I can almost guarantee this is factory original cause when I bought the truck it came with all the paperwork and the folks only had it serviced at the dealer and there is no mention of it anywhere. Pulled the top cover to check the filter and as far as I can tell it’s damn near as clean as when I installed it. Re washed everything and just got back to La. Call up oh, oh, oh, O’Reilly’s, yup got one in stock. Pull the top cover off the motor and the old one weighs a ton. So I think what the hell, I just bought this truck not that long ago and of all the stuff I did check that was not one of them. It says that the ccv filter can get plugged to the point of causing a over pressure situation in the crank case and cause oil to push out of seals / gaskets.

In the midst of searching I come across a article that says to check the CCV filter. So I interwebs how much of a PIA that is or can I wait till I get home to better tool supply and an actual shop instead of a driveway with hopes and dreams. The only thing you need to do is pop off the harmonic balancer. When I get back I slide under the front end again and realize it’s comping from the bottom of the timing cover. The D&J timing cover does allow you to install/remove a new seal without removing the cover. Hose the shit out of everything and go for a short drive (about 15 miles) so I can get a better idea of the leak severity. Enjoy a beer while I wait for it to soak. Slid under the front end and WTF?!! there is a fresh coat of oil all under the motor? I change oil and hose everything down with power purple. Got there and brought oil and a filter cause I knew I’d be due. So, I left Louisiana a week ago and burned across I20 coming to NC.
